Scott Leaman, Superintendent
Western Placer Unified School District (WPUSD) serves over 6,700 students. Today Glen Edwards Middle School - although well maintained, has grown crowded and needs updating. The aging facility, which was built in 1949, needs repairs, renovation, technology and safety upgrades to adequately house and educate current student enrollments. WPUSD is focused on providing a top-quality education to prepare students for college and 21st-century careers. A strong curriculum, safe and up-to-date classrooms and the support of our local community are key to maintaining our middle school students’ success. In addition to updating Glen Edwards Middle School, the time has come to build a much needed elementary school in South Lincoln Crossing. Students from the Lincoln Crossing area are being forced to camp out to attend the school.
On June 30, 2016, the Western Placer Unified School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously to place a $60 million general obligation bond on the November 8, 2016 general election ballot. For homeowners in the Western Placer Unified School District this will equal $29.00 per $100,000.00 in assessed home value per year in costs. Measure N will begin the process of upgrading aging facilities at Glen Edwards Middle School and also construct an elementary school in Lincoln Crossing. A fact sheet about Measure N is located here.
The Glen Edwards master plan is located here. We will use this document as guidance for selecting improvements at the site.
